GOAL
Reduce energy use by 20-50% in existing buildings - which globally account for around 40% of greenhouse gas emissions - in the Greater Washington, D.C. region through our collaborative partnership.
CONCEPT
Energy efficiency companies, banks, local governments and building owners are committing resources to reduce energy use and improve air quality in large buildings through technological and financing methods that require little or no capital and are repaid via the energy savings.
EDUCATION, OUTREACH AND RESEARCH
Founding partner, Virginia Tech, an unbiased facilitator, works to develop program momentum and governance, while using the partnership as a platform for creating hands-on learning tools for students, civic groups and industry practitioners, and identifying long-term cross-disciplinary research opportunities around the theme of energy efficiency.
